Another Progressive Milestone for the Mobile Housing Authority!
September 15, 2026

The Mobile Housing Authority has been notified by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (“HUD”) that it has successfully completed the requirements of the 2024 Action Plan and has emerged from the designation of substandard in its “PHAS” rating. PHAS, officially known as the Public Housing Assessment System, is the tool used by HUD to evaluate, score, and oversee the performance of housing authorities.

The housing authority entered into an Action Plan in late 2024 to address the findings and scoring of its performance and immediately took steps to address the deficiencies. The plan provided for target completion dates for actions by the agency. By letter dated September 3, 2026, HUD provided notice of the agency’s success in meeting its obligations under the plan.
