Trunk-Or-Treat at Craighead Elementary School

On the morning of Friday, October 31, 2025, we joined MHA Chairman William Ray and Commissioner Russell Mitchell at Craighead Elementary School for the school’s annual Trunk or Treat celebration. Together, we handed out candy to students dressed in creative costumes and enjoyed a fun, festive event filled with laughter and community spirit. The event provided a wonderful opportunity to engage with the community and bring smiles to the children’s faces.

2025 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk

The American Cancer Society “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” Walk was held in Mobile on Saturday, October 25th.

MHA Steps for Strength, which consisted of 1/3 of our team members from various departments, as well as the Board Chairman, William Ray, walked together to support and raise awareness for breast cancer research.

FSS Graduate Success Story

We are proud to celebrate one of our 2025 Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) graduates who has accomplished all her program goals.

She advanced from Teacher to Site Supervisor in Early Childhood Education, earned her Child Development Specialist Certification, completed credit counseling with Lifelines, and achieved significant escrow savings.

Her success reflects the mission of the FSS Program—empowering families to achieve economic independence and long-term stability.

Building Stronger Communities Through Collaboration

October 7, 2025

The Mobile Housing Authority, in partnership with the Prichard Housing Authority, hosted a successful Program Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting at Goodwill Easter Seals on October 01, 2025. The event brought together 25 attendees representing various community organizations dedicated to supporting families through education, employment, and self-sufficiency initiatives.

PCC members shared information about the services their organizations provide and discussed ways to meet the needs of Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) participants. A highlight of the meeting was hearing from the MHA Resident Commissioner, who shared her inspiring journey from FSS participant to homeowner.

This collaborative meeting strengthened partnerships between agencies and identified new opportunities to connect residents with valuable community resources.
