Retiree Honored - Randall Schaerer

At MHA's Board of Commissioners meeting on November 9th, Mr. Randall Schaerer was honored for his 29 years of service from 1992 to 2021.
He was presented with a plaque and a copy of the proclamation describing his service to MHA.

COVID-19 EVICTION AVOIDANCE PLAN

The U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision to end the CDC’s eviction moratorium means delinquent tenants no longer have federal protection from eviction. However, MHA has chosen not to pursue evictions due to unpaid rent at this time. To remain housed delinquent families must:

(1) meet with their property managers no later than October 15th;
(2) complete an interim and/or a repayment agreement; and
(3) contact Resident Services Advisor Melanie Thompson at 251.301.0794 or mthompson@mobilehousing.org to apply for Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) funds.

MHA’s Board of Commissioners and staff are doing everything possible to help prevent evictions. We need your help to keep everyone housed during the difficult time.

Due to the ongoing weather impacts related to Hurricane Ida and the State of Emergency declared in the City of Mobile, the Mobile Housing Authority offices will be closed on Monday, August 30th. We plan to re-open on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 8:00AM. 

Housing Choice Voucher Waitlist Status Update

We are in the process of dispositioning all HCV Applicants to the waitlist. During this process you may receive emails notifying you of your acceptance or rejection from the waitlist. Our waitlist is only open to 1,200 applicants. Anyone who is within the first 1,200 applicants will receive a final disposition of acceptance to the waitlist.

When final dispositions are made, MHA will post to the website and on our Facebook page the following announcement:

"Final Accepted Waitlist Applicants Now Available to View!!"

You may then go to the RentCafe site and log in to view your position on the waitlist.
